meet the heart behind

Shirley Eichelberg

Growing up, vacations simply weren't part of my world. My dad believed traveling was a waste of money. He worked incredibly hard and taught all five of us kids to do the same. Meanwhile, my mom would tell us stories about growing up as an Army brat, living in different places, experiencing new cultures, and learning to embrace the people and traditions around her. I was completely captivated. Long before I ever owned a passport, I dreamed about seeing the world.

In high school, I immersed myself in European and Asian studies because I couldn't get enough of the history, architecture, cultures, and stories that made every destination unique. I got married, raised my children, built a career in Health Information, and spent over twenty years working hard, staying organized, and taking care of everyone else. Vacation was always something I'd do "later."

Then, at 50 years old, I finally took my very first real vacation.

My husband and I spent a week in Amsterdam, wandering museums, admiring centuries-old architecture, and experiencing a completely different way of life. Something shifted inside me on that trip. A couple of years later, we explored Italy together, and before long I had fallen in love with cruising, discovering destinations throughout Europe, the Caribbean, and Hawaii. Every journey reminded me that the world is filled with incredible places, fascinating people, and experiences that are simply too beautiful to keep postponing.

That's exactly why I created Over Due Traveler. The name is deeply personal. I was overdue for my own adventure, and I realized so many other people are, too.

Today, I combine my lifelong love of travel with the skills my career taught me: organization, precision, attention to detail, and the ability to think through every little piece of the puzzle. I'm the person who genuinely enjoys researching destinations, comparing cruise itineraries, finding the right cabin, organizing timelines, and making sure everything comes together seamlessly so you don't have to worry about a thing.

TRAVEL ADVISOR

let's work together

When I'm not planning life changing vacations, you'll find me:

dreaming about Egypt

listening to Lewis Capaldi

rewatching Hawaii Five-0

enjoying a good cup of coffee

or planning my own next adventure

I have a sarcastic New England sense of humor, a soft spot for meaningful conversations, and a genuine love for connecting with people from all walks of life.

More than anything, I believe travel changes us.

It reminds us to slow down.

To stay curious.

To embrace new cultures.

To make memories with the people we love.

And most importantly, to stop waiting for the "perfect time."

Because if there's one thing my own journey has taught me, it's this:

Life is for living, not waiting.

Whether you're dreaming of wandering through Europe, setting sail on a luxury cruise, relaxing at a beautiful all-inclusive resort, or finally checking a bucket-list destination off your list, I'm here to make every step feel effortless, exciting, and thoughtfully planned.

All you have to do is dream big.

I'll take care of the details so you can focus on making memories you'll treasure for a lifetime.

You're Over Due for Your Next Adventure.
